About Our Seniors

We welcome runners of any standard, age or ability who would like to join our club.  We pride ourselves on our 13254921_10208070467032222_7393211176619690413_owelcoming and friendly approach, as we were all new to the club once and we understand how daunting it can seem.  However, once you have experienced our lovely group for yourself you’ll wonder what you were worried about!

We suggest that before deciding to join the club, you come along to a few training sessions to see if the club is right for you. If you would like to do this, simply contact our Membership Secretary via email and just let them know a little bit about yourself and that you will be attending.

We offer three sessions a week.

One session is a structured training session:

From September until April these sessions are held on Wednesdays at 6.30pm at Silverstone Circuit.  These sessions are a structured training session, usually consisting of intervals, speed-work or hills.  Members are split into ability groups, so that the session is as challenging as they want it to be, and you will be working with others of a similar ability.

From April to July, we switch these structured training sessions to the athletics track at Stowe School where we train on Fridays at 6.30pm.  (There is a small additional charge for these sessions.) Training continues up to just before the start of the school holidays, with a number of adhoc training sessions being held during August.

Mid-week club runs

During the week, members get together for paced training runs. These are often from Towcester Leisure Centre, but contact silsonchairperson@gmail.com or join the Silson Facebook group for details of this week’s run.

Sunday Runs

As well as the weekly training sessions, throughout the year, the club members host a weekly social run on a Sunday morning.  These are friendly, relaxed and fun group runs, which cover of a variety of distances from 8-10 miles and generally end with well-earned refreshments.

For up to date details of all of our training and Sunday runs, please see the Training page or the Silson AC Facebook page.

If you are interested in coming along for a couple of trial sessions, please contact us on silsonchairperson@gmail.com or silsonmembership@gmail.com .

As a club we participate in a number of competitive events throughout the year:

  • During the autumn/winter months, the club competes in the Results Base Chiltern Cross Country League where each runner has a chance to score points for the club. We also hold an interclub points based challenge each year which requires the individuals to beat their own personal best times over a variety of distances.
  • During the spring/summer months, the club takes part in the NAA Road Running League and the East Midlands Grand Prix road running series.
  • Throughout the year Silson AC also enter a variety of local and national races both as a team and as individuals.
