The committee have decided to introduce Club Standards to celebrate more of the running achievements of our senior members. It will be an annual  scheme starting on the 1st October 2018 and finishing on the 30th September 2019. The prizes will be awarded at a Christmas Award ceremony /buffet function in December 2019.

The key features of the Awards will be as follows:

  1. The Standards will be based on the WAVA (World Association of Veteran Athletics) age grading calculator. There are examples of the Gold standards below and at the following link WAVA Training calculators.
  2. We will have the following standards:

Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

3. The WAVA percentages will be as follows:

Platinum = 70%          Gold= 65%      Silver = 60%   Bronze = 55%

  1. To achieve a specific Award the Club Standards are as follows:

(i) For the Bronze Award the runner must complete five races of different distances and achieve at least 55% in each race.

(ii) For the Silver Award the runner must complete six races of different distances and achieve at least 60% in each race.

(iii) For the Gold Award the runner must complete seven  races of different distances and achieve at least 65% in each race.

(iv) For the Platinum Award the runner must complete eight races of different distances, including a marathon, and achieve at least 70% in each race.

  1. Exemptions will be based on the number of Chiltern cross country league finishes a runner has. There would be one exemption for each race. Therefore if a member completes all five Chiltern league races they will automatically achieve the Bronze Award without the need to complete any other race.

If another member completes four Chiltern cross country races they only need to complete one other race to achieve the Bronze Award; two for the Silver Award; three for the Gold Award and four for the Platinum Award, one of which must be a marathon.

  1. The only criteria for the cross country is that the runner must finish the race. Therefore if an athlete achieves the Silver standard for three running distances and finishes three cross country races they will be awarded the Silver award.
  2. I (Jim Darcy) will be the initial administrator of the Club Standards. If a member completes a race all they need to do is send me the details and I will verify and keep a record of the result. Please email me at darcy485@btinternet.com or post a message on the Silson AC Facebook page.
