How fit do I need to be?Silson AC is an inclusive, friendly club which is home to members with a vast range of running aims and achievements. We don’t offer beginners courses, like a Couch to 5k programme, but once you are able to run 5km, our weekly, structured training sessions are definitely for you. The Sunday social runs tend to be over 7 miles, although they do vary from week to week. It doesn’t matter what pace you are, both of these sessions can be adapted to accommodate a range of athletes’ speeds.

Do I need to come every week?Senior Members (over 18 years): you are welcome to come to whichever training sessions suit you and your other commitments. After a couple of trial sessions, we would ask you to become a member of the club. Junior Members (age 12-17 years): as we may have a waiting list for Junior Membership, we request that you make a commitment to come every week. If you have not attended training for several sessions, we might contact you to see if you still intend to train with the club.

As a member, what races and events would I need to run in?"Silson AC members have a whole range of personal running goals, from track middle distances, 5km to marathon distances on road and trail Ultra marathons! … whatever your running and racing preferences there is likely to be someone with similar ambitions. As a club, we encourage members to take part in the local Northants Road Race Series and East Midlands Grand Prix road race series in the Spring and Summer Months; the County Athletics Championships in the Summer and the Chiltern League Cross-Country races through the Autumn and Winter. More details can be found on the Races page with dates on our Events Calendar We also enter teams for the Midland Counties Road Relays and members enter themselves for County and Midland Cross Country Championships; plus of course any other races they fancy through the year! In terms of events, Silson host a 10km race at the Silverstone Circuit each year and as a member of the club we request that you do not participate in this race, but support us by helping out. There are plenty of different tasks to be done on the night and a great club atmosphere.
