Summer is now behind us, although it still felt pretty warm at Parkrun this weekend. The training schedule is being put in place for the Autumn season, and I’m sure the sessions will help us all work towards our running aims — whether that’s a Parkrun, cross‑country, a 10k, or something even further. It has been great having Wednesday training at Watermeadows, especially the session with the added eclipse! Well done to our coaches for keeping everyone motivated. Please keep an eye on the Facebook page, as from the 16th of September we move to the Winter Hills for a couple of weeks.

As our club continues to grow, I would love to hear what additional things you feel we could offer — training, races, or social events. To support this, we will shortly be sending out a questionnaire. Please take the time to complete it and help us continue to develop.

September 9th Wednesday Training at Watermeadows, Towcester

September 16th, 23rd & 30th Wednesday Training at Winterhills, Silverstone

Facebook is the place to check for Wednesday training locations, and it will also highlight the additional Saturday sessions held at Stowe (Next session is October 17th). As the nights begin to draw in, please make sure you attend with appropriate high‑viz tops and running torches.

Sunday Runs- Thank you to all the hosts who have led Sunday runs over the last couple of months. These sessions offer a great chance to explore different routes across the local area, and they’re always a brilliant social opportunity too. If you are interested in hosting a run, look out for messages on Facebook.

Cross Country- The club cross‑country event is on Sunday 4th October at Brackley Lane, Abthorpe. If you wish to enter please contact the men’s (Chris Coghlan or Charlie Purr) or women’s captains (Sue Torrence) by Thursday October 1st. You will need to give your name and the time you are currently running 5k. The race is a handicap event with women starting at 10 am and running a 3.2-mile race. The men’s race is 6.4 miles and will start at 10.45am. It will be a staggered start with the slower runners going off ahead of the faster ones. It would be fantastic to have as big a turnout as possible. If you don’t wish to run but are able to marshal, that would be greatly appreciated.

The Chiltern Cross Country League starts on Saturday 10th October at Milton Keynes. A WhatsApp group has been set up, and additional details are available on Facebook.

Chip Shop Challenge- What an incredible event this turned out to be, with a record turnout. Fifty‑six competitors took on the course, with the winner arriving bang on 8:00 pm — well done to Simon Storer. We also had more than fifteen marshals who helped the event run so smoothly, and around twenty family members joined us on the mound for fish and chips. A huge thank you to Dave Moreley for organising the world’s premier Friday‑night running event… with chips.

Keep pounding those pavements everyone and see you soon.
