Dear All,
With the clock’s changing and lighter evenings, we head towards Easter and our training switching to Friday evenings at Stowe School track from Friday 17th April. Ahead of that will be one more session at Silverstone Circuit on 8th April and the final round (10km) of the Winter Cup – more details to follow.
Of course, there is also Silson AC’s AGM on Monday 13th April at 7:30pm (via Zoom). We will send out a meeting link shortly. You will be aware that there are important Committee positions to fill. Without a Chairperson in place, England Athletics have confirmed that the club will have to cease all activities with immediate effect – this includes all training and also jeopardises the Silverstone Grand Prix 10km on Wednesday 6th May. As of yet, no one has expressed an interest in taking on the Chairperson role. I know we all want the club to continue, but someone needs to step into that role. If you are considering coming forwards, but are waiting to see if someone else will first, please don’t wait until the meeting, let me know and I can talk you through what the role entails. Contact myself (silsonchairperson@gmail.com) or Paul Homes (silsonsecretary@gmail.com).
Here is the latest race report from Graham along with a summary of some of the local racing opportunities coming up:
Inter Counties Cross Country, Wollaton Park Nottingham Saturday March 7th
With Northants quite strong and consistent in the male teams at the 2026 Inter
Counties Cross Country, unusually it was the female teams proving more of a
challenge. No more so than the senior ladies for various reasons, the team
were without most of the leading runners.
Another decent weather day with Wollaton Hall in full view, as Helen Heley
lined up 2nd in the Northants pen. Helen was unchallenged by any of the other
Northants runners to finish 169th, running strongly over the parkland course.
This result completed a fine cross country season for Helen.
