Another month of good participation among the Silson runners, will not only set up the Chiltern League for a final promotion push, but will prolong the season into March. Silson will be represented at the Inter Counties and hopefully the English Schools, at Loughborough and Nottingham respectively.
County Cross Country Abington Park Northampton Saturday January 7th
Torrential rain made the excellent Abington Park course even more challenging. Silson had full teams and ran well faced with strong competition. Jake Storer, Helen Heley and Julie Hammond have all been selected in the Northants squads. Results Ladies Helen Heley 11th, Julie Hammond 12th, Hannah St Leger Harris 17th. Chiltern League Campbell Park Milton Keynes Saturday January 14th
The Silson tent was full as heavy rain lashed the undulating Campbell Park course. Silson boasted their strongest teams of the season to move into second place in the table, with promotion a big possibility. Holding a healthy 260 point lead over 3rd placed Thame Runners. The teams were boosted by 3 debutants to the league Richard Lewis, Lizzie Phipps and Emma Chapple Hyam. Results U15 girls Imogen Lancaster 7th. Ladies Helen Heley 3rd, Julie Hammond 7th, Lizzie Phipps 9th, Hannah St Leger Harris 21st, Madeleine Moutrie 44th, Isabel Heley 52nd, Teresa Cox 62nd. Northants Schools Abington Park Saturday January 21st
Low overnight temperatures made underfoot conditions hard and uneven following the mudfest of a couple weeks earlier. Imogen Lancaster again ran a good race, to easily qualify, against strong opposition. Imogen finished 7th and will now go forward to the East Anglian Schools at the same venue on February 4th.
Midlands Cross Country Newbold Common Leamington Spa
Just 2 Silson runners made the short trip to Leamington for the Midland Counties Cross Country Championships. Runners were faced with a much changed course, omitting the Newbold Beacon and the infamous stream crossing. Replaced by a flat course with numerous ditch leaps. Results 8km Julie Hammond 65th 31.31secs, 12km Toby Heley 209th 45.04 secs
