Plenty to report on from the month of May, as the road race season gets into full swing. Below are race reports from Weston, Blisworth and Banbury, all well supported by Silson runners. Along with a couple of successes at the Northants County Track Championships. Not to forget a very successful Silverstone Grand Prix 10k. It has been a busy month for the club and its members.

The Weston 5 Monday May 5th

The Weston 5 made a welcome return to the running calendar and was well supported by Silson athletes. Zared a Brighton &Hove athlete postedan impressive 26.47winning time. Silson had the leadinglady with Helen Heley 9^th taking the prize in 33.50. Next Silson lady was Nichola Green 27^th in 37.38. Brian Keers returned to racing after a 3 year break crossing the line 51^st in 43.06

Northants Track & Field Championships Corby Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th

A record breaking championships with 1200 athletes taking part. Sadly only two from Silson, even with Richard Francis being 2^nd claim. Richard had a successful championships claiming a 5k pb 17.26 and taking the countyvet’s title. County lady vet championat 1500 meterswas Julie Ann Hammond 5.49.29

Blisworth Friday 5 May 16th

Simon Storer continued in good form following the London Marathon, crossing the line 64^th in 31.10. Close behind on the hilly countryside course were Steve Wareham 69^th in 31.47 and Simon Woodward70^th 31.51. First Silson lady was Susan Mulligan placing 208^th in a time of 40.16. In mid-pack Greg Ball and newcomer Emily Castle were closely matched, 225^th and 226^th respectively. Greg timed 41.13 and Emily 41.17.

The Banbury 5 Tuesday May 20th

Another popular East Midlands Grand Prix race, saw Chris Coghlan first Silson runner across the line timing 30.53 in 49^th place. Our firstlady was 219^th Emma Chapple-Hyam in 39.46. Supporting the team really well were 311^th Marina Lister 49.34,315^th Hannah Torrance 50.30, 317^th David Morley 52.18 and Eleanor Rees 319^th in a time of 52.25
