October 2025 Newsletter

It’s always nice to start on a positive note as per the below message received from Buckingham Running Club.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU

To all you wonderful supporters/volunteers/runners of the BSRC 24Hr Street Relay in Aid of CRUK and in memory of a club member legend David Morris.

It has been amazing to see so many of you giving up your time to do your bit for this fantastic weekend of running.

Just a few stats for you all -

  • There were 135 runners pounding the pavements and parks of Buckingham.

  • There were 41 Gazebo volunteers doing multiple shifts (also others who came down unannounced to help out so thank you to those as well)

  • Total Miles ran....... 762.53!!!

A special thanks to the Silson Runners... for bringing their own 'crew' to run/sponsor & support this event.... Thank you!

Northampton Half Marathon - Sunday September 14th

The race times were amazing, but disappointingly the course was deemed short in distance by almost .4 of a mile. Mark Conway led the quartet of Silson runners home, placing 29th in 1.22.55. Less than a minute behind and having a very good run, Chris Coghlan 1.23.37 finishing 33rd. In 153rd place was Paul Holmes timing 1.37.24. An improving Rob Pardon was pleased with his time 1.47.28 with a finishing position of 320th.

Midland Relays Sutton Park - Saturday September 20th

The wet and windy conditions were not ideal for relay running. However Silson took two ladies’ teams to tackle the undulating west midlands parkland course. Both teams were evenly matched crossing the line very close together. Silson A was Laura Torrance, Emma Chapple-Hyam, Hannah Torrance and Julie Ann Hammond. Silson B Issabelle Hodgson, Rachael Gardener, Sue Torrance and Eleanor Rees. Well done Silson Ladies a great effort in difficult conditions.

Rugby 10 Mile Road Race – Sunday September 28th

Just the two Silson AC runners took on the last of the NRRL series at the notoriously undulating Rugby 10 Mile Road Race based at Barby Cricket Club. The race took place over the ‘new course’ but using much of the ‘traditional’ Rugby 10 course through Barby, Kilsby & Hillmorton, including the climb up ‘Cart Hill’. With Richard Popiel finishing 108th in a time of 1:21:48, and Hannah Torrance 170th in 1:47:30.
