September/October Newsletter

Our first newsletter for the 2022/23 season.

Included in this edition are the last 3 results of the EMGP and final standings.

Congratulations to Hannah St leger Harris for winning her age group, also well done to anyone who completed 5 races, to get a final placing.

We are now into the cross country training, with the Chiltern League fixtures listed, as well as the club X country on October 8th. Plans are ongoing for the Silson awards evening on Friday November 18th, we hope to see you there to celebrate everyone’s achievements.

Blisworth 5 July 8th

The Blisworth 5 is a hilly but popular event with Silson runners. We had 7 members taking part in the Friday evening EMGP race. Mark Conway made light work of the hilly course, going round in only just over 6 minute/ mile.

Results 37th Mark Conway 30.46, 71st Toby Heley 32.52, 95th Hannah St Leger Harris 34.36, 196th Dave Jarrett 43.34, 224th Sarah De Boer 49.40, 225th Abby Snell 50.01.

Milton Keynes 10k July 12th

Although the MK 10k is flat and run on red ways and paths, the times recorded have never been as quick as some of the other courses. Again there were 7 runners from Silson in this EMGP race.

Results 56th Jim Darcy 39.44, 80th Toby Heley 42.03, 87th Paul Holmes 42.47, 95th Dan Kenealy 42.57, 172nd Greg Ball 48.59, 210 Dave Jarrett 53.33, 241st Sarah De Boer 60.51.

Rugby 6 July 20th

This year the Rugby 6 was the final race in the EMGP series. Toby Heley was first Silson to cross the line, 16 seconds ahead of his wife Helen.

Results 69th Toby Heley 40.12, 71st Helen Heley 40.28, 87th Hannah St Leger Harris 41.33, 91st Dan Kenealy 41.55, 123rd Richard Popiel 44.05, 158th Greg Ball 47.09, 186th Dave Jarrett 51.43, 239th Abby Snell 66.47.

Abby Snell 4th senior lady, Hannah St Leger Harris 1st vet female 35, Dan Kenealy 28th snr man, Paul Holmes 30th snr man, Toby Heley 11th vet man 50, Richard Popiel 4th vet man 60, Dave Jarrett 12th vet man 60.

Hooky 6 August

This popular undulating road race in Oxfordshire, took the place of Silson’s Sunday run. First home for Silson was Richard Popiel 33rd in 42.55, 22 places behind was Ben Littlejohn 47.00. For Silson ladies Emma Chapple-Hyam was 83rd timing 50.34. Completing the quartet, Dave Jarrett 90th in 51.51.

*Silson Club Cross Country Saturday October 8th is at Brackley Lane, Abthorpe NN12 8QJ with 2 races 3k 11.30am and 6k 12pm. Anybody can run in either race, awards and medals will only go to Juniors in the 3k and Senior athletes male and female in the 6k.
