August Newsletter

We arrive at the quietest month in the Silson running calendar, which gives runners, coaches and the club’s committee a short break. The East Midlands Grand Prix series finale was at Rugby on July 19th. Some of our runners competed in all the races - except the Silverstone 10k of course. This is an excellent commitment. Below is a short race report from the July races and a list of our leading runners in the various age groups. Congratulations to all who feature in these categories. There is different type of challenge ahead of us, as we will be battling to stay in Division 1 of the Chiltern Cross Country League.

Milton Keynes 10k Tuesday July 11th

Silson boasted 15 runners at Milton Keynes, which was our best turnout of the series. The race is predominantly flat, raced mainly around Willen Lake. Mark Conway led the green vests home 51st in 37.15, followed by 97th Simon Woodward 40.14 and Toby Heley 112th in 40.48.

Rugby 6 Wednesday July 19th

We return to the undulating country lanes for the last race in the series, the Rugby 6 miler. A special mention to Helen Heley 149th in 43.07 and 1st series female vet 50. Completing their set of series races were Dave Jarrett 220th in 48.56, Rebecca King 238th 50.34 and Eleanor Rees 322nd in 63.49.
