June Newsletter

The races and results come thick and fast during the month of May. We are already 3 races into the East Midlands Grand Prix, with a very successful Silverstone 10k kicking off the series. On the track we have had the Northants/ Leicestershire county Champs.

The Silverstone Grand prix 10k Wednesday May 1st

With entries to the event closed over a month before the race, the 39th Silverstone 10k was always going to be a successful event. The favourable weather conditions led to a decent race, Will Beeston of Tonbridge Harriers 32.09 held off the Kenilworth runner Luke Morgan by 6 seconds. Rachel Doherty 37.26 running for a fast improving Higham Harriers was first lady. Well done to Silson members for turning out in big numbers to support the event.

The Northants & Leics County Track and Field Championships   Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May

The sun shone on Corby for an excellent weekend of athletics. Only one Silson runner, but Helen Heley earned a mention in Athletics Weekly for her 5000. Running in very hot conditions Helen timed 20.02 to take county vet ladies gold medal. Another well done for the Silson helpers at the event, it was good to be involved.
