We only have one race to report in from April, as we make the transition from cross country to road or track racing. The Manchester marathon certainly makes good reading, as Silson’s results were excellent.

Manchester Marathon April 3rd 2022

The Manchester Marathon had been a focus, throughout the winter and cross country season, for some of our members. Silson runners were rewarded with the best set of marathon results recorded by club members for many years. Weather conditions were good, with an urban course providing plenty of support from the locals and club members. Simon Storer had a sub 3.15 target, running an even paced race to record a 3.03 time. The ever consistent Jim Darcy was less than 1 minute behind Simon in 3.04.

Performance of the day goes to Hannah St Leger- Harris, who not only did a massive pb but lowered the Silson female record by 20 minutes. A very focused Hannah crossed the line in 3.22. Another 20 minutes came off the Silson O/60s male record with Richard Popiel crossing the line in 3.32.

Toby Heley was very pleased with his pb run, timing 3.39. Pbs were also gained by Kris Black and Simon McDowell who were a second apart timing 3.49. Paul Rose also completed the race with a time of 4.18.

Thanks to all who contributed to this report.
