Congratulations to our finishers in the London and Manchester Marathons. Put your feet up for a few weeks, and enjoy. All is in place for the Silverstone Grand Prix 10k on May 1st. We have our largest recent field of 1500 runners. The 10k signals the start of the East Midlands Evening Series of road races throughout the summer months.
The Manchester Marathon Sunday April 13th
The fast flat course along with favourable weather conditions, provided an opportunity for fast times. Organisers would have expected faster winning times than 2.16 for the men and 2.28 for the ladies. Simon Storer’s time of 3.12.06 was also slower than he wanted. Next home was Toby Heley in 3.28.25 which was a pb. Charlie Purr had a good marathon debut crossing the line in 3.38.38.
London Marathon Sunday April 20th
Again Silson had three runners in this marathon, with a cold start turning into favourable running conditions. Richard Popiel missed his target time by just 37 seconds, with vet 60 qualifying at 3.37. Simon McDowell and Kris Black appear to have run together with identical times 4.35.21.
