There have been 4 East Midlands Grand Prix races during the month of June. The attendances have been consistent from Silson runners with 11 runners at each, with the exception of Corby where 14 made the long trek to the north of the county. The current team standings show Silson Ladies 7th with both men’s teams senior and masters 10th. With just two more races remaining at Milton Keynes and Rugby.

Blisworth 5 Friday June 9th EMGP

This is a popular Friday evening event attracting some good quality athletes locally and from the Midlands. The course is far from easy with some long hills. The first four Silson runners home were 39th Mark Conway 30.31 followed by 3 closely matched runners: Simon Woodward 70th 32.22, Toby Heley 73rd 32.35 and Helen Heley 78th 32.49. Helen was first lady vet 50.

Harborough 5 Tuesday June 13th EMGP

Again a good turnout of green vests at Market Harborough. This is a race with a downhill start, which can produce some fast times. Running very well were James Spencer 98th 34.53, and Nicola Green 162nd 38.11. Returning their fastest times of the series so far were David Morley 266th 51.00 and Eleanor Rees 279th 54.43.

Weedon 10k Tuesday June 20th EMGP

This is not a course to record a fast time with some brutal hills, including the Everdon Stubbs. Well done to the 11 Silson runners who completed the course. Continuing their good form were Paul Holmes 79th 42.54 and Emma Chapple Hyam 158th 49.42. Strong runs were also had by Dave Jarrett 181st 52.02 and Kim Froggitt 236th 59.43. Running just over the hour were Sarah de Boer 237th 60.05 and Humphrey Marten 239th 60.56.

Corby 5 Wednesday June 29th EMGP

An amazing turn out of Silson runners. The long journey was worth it as the results were really good. Richard Popiel fresh from a successful North Devon marathon ran in 122nd 36.13. Sam Snell 186th and Rebecca King 193rd ran their fastest times of the season 42.19 and 43.22 respectively. A close battle ensued between Susan Mulligan 210th 45.46 and Kim Froggitt 211th 45.58.
