I don’t think Silson has ever had as many as 7 members in the London Marathon before, so well done to all. We hope you enjoyed your day, report and results below. Silson Ladies had a team representing the club at the Midland relays, coming away with an excellent result. May 17th sees the 38th Silverstone 10k, an event with which every club member is expected to help.
Midland Road Relays Sutton Park Saturday April 1st
The Midland relays take place twice a year. Sutton Park is the venue 6 miles north of Birmingham. The ladies team required 6: Kim, Emma, Julie Ann, Teresa, Maddie and Fiona. Relays are great for team spirit, with leg distances 7km for 1st and 3rd legs with 5km the other 4 legs. Emma kicked off the first long leg, with Fiona taking the anchor leg. On completion in a smidge over 3 hours we came home 44th out 61 teams. It was time to celebrate over tea and Fiona’s excellent bakes. Results Leg 1 Emma Chapple Hyam (47th) 42.18, Leg 2 Kim Froggitt (52nd) 27.24, Leg 3 Julie Hammond (42nd) 39.06, Leg 4 Teresa Cox (47th) 30.32, Leg 5 Madeleine Moutrie (47th) 27.08, Leg 6 Fiona Storer (44th) 29.02.

The London Marathon Sunday April 23rd
After 4 months of distance training 7 Silson members toed the line for the 2023 London Marathon. The day was damp and overcast with slightly cool conditions, not at all bad for distance running. Simon Storer was first Silson across the line. Two ladies both having excellent runs Lizzie and Hannah. Fast improving Paul Holmes was under 3½ hours. David Morley finally got to the London marathon start line. Sarah and Sam worked really hard for their finishing times. Training is now at Stowe School Athletics track on Friday evenings (with the exception of May 24th which will be Wednesday instead of the normal Friday session). All sessions start at 6.30pm.
