We are now into the cross country season, already we have had the Club Cross Country and the first Chiltern League Fixtures. Wednesday training has moved from Watermeadows to Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit. The weather has been mild and training numbers have been very good

Ben Hinton 3hr23 mins and Simon Storer 3hr 13mins represented the club excellently at the London Marathon on Sunday October 2nd.

Berlin Marathon September 25th

In a record setting year in Berlin, where Eliud Kipchoge set a new WR of 2.01.09 and Tigist Asefa set a new women’s course record of 2.34.01 (3rd fastest ever ladies time), Hannah St Leger also took advantage of perfect conditions to record a new pb of 3.16.10 - taking over 6 minutes off her pb set in Manchester earlier in the year. Hannah finished in the top 500 ladies and 99th in her age group.

Club Cross Country Saturday October 8th Abthorpe

It was a beautiful morning at Hinton’s Fields and we have a course that will always test the best runners. It was a poor turn out from Silson runners. Although Imogen Lancaster ran away with the first race, guest Freddie Hinton would have tested her. Fred ran a 1 lap time trial in the 2nd race. The longer 6k race was excellent. The lead constantly changed over the 3 lap course between Toby Heley, Ben Hinton and eventual winner Jake Storer.

Results 2k race 1st Imogen Lancaster 8.41, 2nd Sophie Cartwright 10.02, 3rd Zac Noon 10.46, 4th Richard Popiel 10.54, 5th Toby Cartwright 10.54, 6th Gemma Hinton 11.25, 7th Fiona Storer 12.12, 8th Dave Jarrett 12.12 6k race 1st Jake Storer 25.38, 2nd Ben Hinton 25.46, 3rd Toby Heley 25.55, 4th Paul Holmes 28.21, 5th James Spencer 28.58, 6th Richard Popiel 29.42, 7th Humphrey Marten 38.08. 1 lap Freddie Hinton 8.50.

Chiltern League Cross Country Saturday October 15th Oxford

Silson’s Chiltern League successes in recent years have been built on strong turnouts from Silson runners. Quite a few were missing at Oxford throughout the age groups. All Silson runners can be proud of their efforts on the opening 22/23 fixture. A course alteration took a bit away from this excellent cross country course, with the start and finish area being tight and less of a spectacle.

Results: Mens 21st Mark Conway, 55th Michael Spencer, 57th Paul Holmes, 61st James Spencer, 65th Ben Littlejohn, 89th Greg Ball, 106th Humphrey Marten. Ladies Julie Ann Hammond 10th, Hannah St Leger Harris 15th, Gemma Hinton 22nd U/15 girls Imogen Lancaster 8th . Silson are in 9th position in Division 2 after the first fixture.

Abbey Dash 10k Sunday October 23rd Leeds

As the rain began to pour, I headed out to join 4000 other runners on the out and back course. Known as a fast flat course, I was hoping for a good run although illness and lack of training had seriously hampered my preparation. The race was all it was billed to be and I enjoyed the course. Looping back at the 5k mark certainly made the final miles easier. Drenched to the core, I managed to finish and record a pb of 41.48. A race I would really recommend.
